Two green reporters working for The Washington Post, Bob Woodward (Robert Redford) and Carl Bernstein (Dustin Hoffman), investigate the botched 1972 burglary of the Democratic Party Headquarters if the office building at the Watergate complex. With the help of a mysterious source, code-named Deep Throat (Hal Holbrook), the two trace the connection between the burglars and a White House staffer. Despite dire warnings about their safety, the duo follows the money all the way to the top. Winner of four Oscars, Pakula’s film, working from a William Goldman script, is a landmark political thriller based on Woodward and Bernstein’s account of the events that compelled President Nixon to resign.
