Mediha, a young survivor of the ISIS-orchestrated genocide of Yazidis in 2014 who was kidnapped, enslaved, and help captive until her rescue, turns the camera on herself to tell us the story of her grief, trauma, and resilience, as she and her younger brothers strive to rebuild their lives despite the uncertain fate of their father, mother, and baby brother. Mediha is a moving yet empowering account of agency against suppression, of seeking justice and healing despite its personal toll, and of reclaiming one’s voice despite losing one’s language.
