70s Schlesinger
Celebrate director John Schlesinger’s centennial as we revisit his four feature films from the 1970s. After winning the Best Director Oscar for Midnight Cowboy (1969), Schlesinger had the clout to continue making the films on his own terms. His first three films from this decade, Sunday Bloody Sunday (12/6), The Day of the Locust (12/12), and Marathon Man (12/17 & 12/19), pushed cinematic cultural boundaries through bold themes and shocking scenes. His final film of the decade, Yanks (12/20) is perhaps his most romantic and sentimental film.
